Just in Time for the Akron Marathon!

For months, the team at Akronym has been working hard behind the scenes to bring this beloved brewery back to life under new ownership. Though kitchen delays kept them from launching sooner, they decided the Akron Marathon was too perfect of an opportunity to sit out.

Akronym Brewing is Back—Just in Time for the Akron Marathon!

The wait is over, Akron! Akronym Brewing has officially reopened! While their kitchen isn’t quite ready to fire up, the beer taps are primed and pouring—and the timing couldn’t be better. Akronym Brewing officially reopened its doors to welcome marathon runners, fans, and thirsty Akronites ready to raise a glass downtown.

For months, the team at Akronym has been working hard behind the scenes to bring this beloved brewery back to life under new ownership. Though kitchen delays kept them from launching sooner, they decided the Akron Marathon was too perfect of an opportunity to sit out.

Why No Kitchen Yet?

It’s the question many will ask, and Akronym wants to be upfront. Because their liquor license was still active, they were able to fast-track beer service. Food, however, requires a full health inspection before the team can start cooking in-house. Until then, the kitchen remains on pause—but that doesn’t mean guests will go hungry.

In the meantime, outside food is more than welcome. That means you can grab a smash burger from Circle of Fifths across the street or a hot, cheesy pizza from Totally Baked around the corner, and enjoy it with a cold Akronym brew in hand. With its prime location in the heart of downtown, the brewery is surrounded by amazing eats to complement your pint.

What to Expect from the Future Menu

While the kitchen space at Akronym’s taproom is on the smaller side—limiting their ability to create a full restaurant-style menu—they’re planning a thoughtful selection of food that pairs perfectly with their beer. Fans can look forward to the return of bar snacks, shareable finger foods, sandwiches, and flatbreads, many made with locally sourced ingredients.

Guests with food allergies should note that Akronym’s limited kitchen setup won’t allow them to guarantee zero cross-contamination. For a larger menu and allergen-friendly options, Akronym encourages guests to check out their sister brewery, Lock 15 Brewing, just down the road.

Cheers to What’s Next

Akronym Brewing is thrilled to be back and couldn’t be more excited to welcome the community back into the brewery. The kitchen may be a couple of weeks away, but the beer is flowing, the atmosphere is buzzing, and Akron has shown up in full-force.

So whether you’re downtown for an event, just getting off of work, or just looking for a great local pint—stop by Akronym Brewing. Raise a glass, grab some food from a neighbor, and be part of the next chapter in Akronym’s story.
